INTER CLUB RACING

This gives ALL our adult rowers a chance to race together in mixed crews of men and ladies of ALL rowing abilities to get a taster to see what it is like to be in a racing situation and if it is in fact for them!!... Lets hope so...

Race Night 1

The Club held its first Club Race Night on Tuesday 1 June 2010. The weather conditions were perfect and all four of the Club's gigs were out on the water. The race course was set in Newton's Cove, with 3 turns and the finish line level with the Stone Pier. The Davey Jones was out on water as an umpire boat.

The first race of the evening saw a close finish between Isolde and Sir Tristan, with the Isolde Crew winning the race by a 2 second margin, with an overall time of 9:26.

In the second race of the evening Isolde cruised to victory with a time of 9:04. The Tristan crew were however disqualified for missing one of the marks!

The crew of Isolde in the second race took the first Race Night winners title with the overall fastest time.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 8 novice rowers who raced for the first time - we hope you enjoyed it!

 Race Night 2

The Club's second race night was held on Monday 12 July, with choppy conditions and a little bit of rain. The course was again set in Newton's cove, but this time it was slightly longer and only included 2 marks.

The first race saw Sir Tristan storm to victory with a time of 11:33 (a 17 second lead on the closest following gig).

The second race was much more controversial, as Isolde was disqualified within the first few minutes of the race! The Sir Tristan crew rowed to victory with the overall time of 10:20 but were disqualified after the race as they had replaced one of the ladies in their crew with a men's A crew rower!

The third boat over the finish line was Penny, with the overall time of 11:11. As both Isolde and Sir Tristan were disqualified in the second race, and the Sir Tristan crew in race one only posted a time of 11:33 the Penny crew in Race 2 took the race night title.
